Pace is delighted to present Psycho Nacirema, an exhibition featuring multi-media installations by the American artist and actor James Franco and presented by the Scottish artist Douglas Gordon. Throwback Thursday: Watch Art21’s documentary of Robert Mangold’s Ring Paintings he created for an exhibit at Pace Gallery 2 years ago.

Robert Mangold, our current 100 Artists featured artist, is seen here at work in his Washingtonville, New York studio in 2011. Mangold is seen creating work using a ring shape—a continuation of forms used in his previous works. Mangold’s first Ring painting appeared in 2008, and a series of Ring paintings were shown in Spring 2011 at The Pace Gallery’s 57th Street location in New York City.

This scene is featured in the Art in the Twenty-First Century Season 6 episode, Balance (2012).
